Gift Boxes

I love making these gift boxes! I used the Baroque Backgrounds dsp and the beautiful chocolate satin ribbon. I made some little matching 3x3 cards to put inside:

I used Baroque motifs and Priceless for the center medallions and layered them on a scalloped punched piece of cardstock. Then I punched a half circle out of the lip of the envelopes and stamped the small star on the envelopes.

Christmas Cracker

Here's one more Christmas project that we did at our last meeting, a Christmas cracker! Again, my upline Dannie posted some great instructions on her blog. We used Dashing dsp and some red hemp. But my favorite part is the little bell!

Cone Ornament

Isn't this cool looking? This was my upline, Dannie's, project at our last meeting. She calls it a cone ornament. I just love how it looks. Here are her great directions on her blog. We used Dashing dsp, some red grosgrain ribbon, and a lot of sticky strip!

Teacher Gift

I have been working furiously on gifts, especially gifts for my son's teachers. They both have great teachers this year and I really appreciate all they do! This one is for my kindergartner's teacher, Ms B. I made the tote that I saw on the On Stage Magazine. Then I put three cards that we make at our last group meeting inside.

For the tote, I started with a 10 1/2" x 8 1/2 piece of Designer Series Paper from Notations No. 2 and scored vertically at 1 1/4" from each side and horizontally at 4 1/2" and 6". I cut from the vertical edge on the 4 1/2" and 6" score line to the 1 1/4" score line and then folded the sides up together. The sides overlap, but do not meet the edges.

Clear as mud? That's what I thought...so, I drew up a template:

I punched out some tabs with the Round Tab punch and added some strips of dsp to create the handles. I ran a piece of wide olive grosgrain ribbon up the middle and hung a mini envelope (that I created with the Mini Envelope Template) with some gold cord.

Then I stamped "b" on old olive and cut it out and placed it on my mini envelope and stuck a little thank you note inside.

For the cards we used Apple Cider dsp, Office Accoutrement, the round tab punch, the spiral punch and the scallop punch.

I hope she likes it!

Peek-a-boo Box

These little peek-a-boo boxes are so cute and fun to make! This was my project from our recent shoebox swap. I found the directions by Qbee on splitcoast here. I decided to use the circle and scallop punch for my peek-a-boo window.

I started with a 9 1/2" x 4" piece of wild wasabi and scored vertically at 1" and 3". Then I scored horizontally at 1", 3", 4", 6", 7" and 9". I punched a 1 1/4" circle out of purely pomegranate cardstock and then centered the scallop punch over the hole and punched out the scallop frame. Next, I stamped the swirl from Priceless all over the wild wasabi and put the box together. I placed a window sheet behind the peek-a-boo circle to keep some yummy peppermint patties inside.

Tagged Part 2

Ok, every blog I went to was already tagged so I only have a few to tag back:

1. My friend Tracy - Check out her fun blog here.
2. My upline Dannie - Here is her blog.
3. And Lynn (I really like her ideas) - Here is her royal blog.

Tagged

I've been tagged so here it goes:

  1. I lived in Taipei, Taiwan when I was in 6th grade. We lived up on a mountain, Yang Ming Shan. I went to the Taipei American School.

  2. My favorite candy is sour patch kids (but only the orange and red ones).

  3. I grew up in Columbia, MD near Baltimore. I miss having the four seasons.

  4. Before my first son was born, I worked as a Trade Show Coordinator. The company I worked for had a crazy schedule! Over 50 trade shows a year and most were all packed in March-April & September-October.

  5. I don't have a middle name. When I asked my parents why, they said it was so that I didn't have a long name to sign on legal documents.

  6. My favorite food is pizza (right now it's Round Table's Guenevere's delight).

  7. My brother and I share a birthday. When I was young, everyone would comment about how amazing it was that we were born on the same day and I would look at them quizzically and ask "Weren't you born on the same day as your siblings?"

Gift Jar

I love using these glass jars to make into some kind of gift. I covered this one with Wintergreen dsp and added some tags stamped with the Tags on Board stamp set. Now I have to decide who has been nice!

Tag Punch Poinsettia

When I saw the tutorial for this Tag Punch Star on splitcoast, I knew I had to try one. It was a little tricky to get all the tags outlines lined up evenly and a bit time consuming, but I like the result. I decided to make it a poinsettia ornament for my tree! My friend gave my some stickles (thanks Donna!) so I decided to try them out for some bling in the center. It didn't turn out as beautifully as I'd hoped, but it was my first try.

Birthday

I know it's a month later, but I thought I would post some of the pretty birthday cards I received.

This first one is by my friend, Debra. I love how she used the swirl from Baroque Motifs to stamp the background, how she cut out the flower from Ginormous Flowers and added the ice circle rhinestone brad in the middle, how she used the wild wasabi double-stitched ribbon for the stem, and how she trimmed the wild wasabi cardstock to make it look like grass.

She's always telling me she has a hard time coming up with ideas for cards, but I don't believe her because she always makes great cards!

The next card is from my friend Mary (rdm on scs). Her cards are always beautifully embellished. It's hard to tell from the picture, but she embossed the background with a cuttlebug I'm guessing. Then it looks like she used metallic glue (help me out here Mary) for the little dots on the scalloped circle.

This card was made by my upline, Dannie (danniegrvs on scs). She made a cute pocket card. I love how she used the baroque background paper with the Carte Postal set.

The next one I received from my friend Kathleen, (kab on scs). I like how she sponged the background for some texture and used glossy paper for the vase. And of course, I love the purple!

This last one is by my friend, Jessica (CuttiePuttie on scs). I saw the tutorial for this Acetate Card on Splitcoast. I love the colors and the snowflakes from my favorite snowflake set, The Snowflake Spot. I'll have to try making on of these! Thanks for the great and inspiring cards everyone!

Quilts

This is the first quilt that I made for my first son. I started halfway through a class my friend and quilt teacher was having. Here is her web site. I really enjoyed learning how to piece each of the blocks together and quilting each block.

This is the second quilt I made, I like to call it my Purple Quilt. I made it when I was pregnant with my second boy. I was hoping for a girl so I decided to make this quilt in hopes that someday I would have a girl. That wonderful day came 6 months ago when I had my baby girl. I got this quilt out and hung it in her room.

This is the last quilt I made before I decided to take a break from quilt making and go full-time into Stampin' Up! I love to watercolor, so making this watercolor quilt was great fun! I cut out 2" squares and then ironed them onto a special fusable web. Then I sewed it to gether in strips and added some borders. It's now hanging in my little girl's room above her crib.

Sisterhood of the Blogging Stampers-3

I've joined a blogging group! I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's blogs! I love crafts! I've knitted, I've sewed, I've made stuffed animals, I've quilted, but I've fallen in love with rubber stamping cards, gifts, and scrapbook pages! It's my favorite creative outlet that I love to share with others. And I love that I can always make two and give one away. I just couldn't part with my quilts. I'll have to post a picture of them sometime.
