Top Note Chipboard Ring Album

We had a rough week last week. I started feeling sick and came down with the flu, my kids were next and now we're all finally feeling better. I wanted to share this cute and simple (my fav!) Top Note Chipboard Ring Album. It's super quick to make.

Did you know Stampin' Up! sells chipboard that you can use in your Big Shot? It's so cool! I cut 6 chipboard Top Notes with my Big Shot and then cut some of the Ski Slope DSP from the Holiday mini catalog to perfectly cover the chipboard. No extra cutting or trimming needed!

Do you see the possibilities? My second favorite (Top Note is my favorite) die is my Serif Letters dies. Now I can cut the letter and DSP at the same time! Then I just glue the perfectly cut DSP to the chipboard and that's it! No more trying to cut out DSP to match my chipboard letters! I love it!

I used the crop-a-dile to punch through the chipboard and used a ring to hold the chipboard peices together.

Now I'm going to add some pictures of the kids and give it to Grandma for Christmas.

Bake Sale

I haven't been able to post lately because my upload speeds have been so slow, the uploads keep timing out! The earliest appointment I could get is tomorrow for them to come see what is going on! So meanwhile I've been keeping plenty busy with other things!

Last week was particularly busy with doctor, dentist and orthodontist appointments on Monday, parent-teacher conferences on Tuesday, piano lessons, cub scouts and young womens on Wednesday, my oldest son's birthday party on Thursday, and the School Holiday Faire on Friday. I volunteered to bake some cookies for my first grader's bake sale at the Holiday Faire.

So I baked some of our family's favorite, Oatmeal Scotchies. I put four in a bag and made a cute tag with one of the snowflakes from the Snow Swirled set. When I was done I had made over 70 cookies. Some of which were taste tested by the boys and my dh for quality assurance.

Don't forget, today is the last day to sign up for my Holiday Extravaganza class! See the next post for details!

Christmas Card

I've been running around all day getting ready to go on vacation next week. I got the oil changed and car maintenanced and checked over and washed, laundry done, snacks packed, dvds ready, clothes packed, fridge cleaned out, and mail held. I just have to get up and finish packing a couple of things in the morning and then we're off!

And when I get back, I have a lot of whole list of things to do to get ready for Christmas! One of the first things I need to do is make some Christmas cards. Here's one idea for a card using the Snow Swirled set. I stamped the tree in certainly celery and sponged some more on to fill in the tree. Then I embossed the snowflakes on the tree and sponged some pacific point on them. I stamped the other snowflakes on pacific point and then sponged the edges of the card for the background. Then I layered the tree on some going gray and used the ticket punch for the corners. I stamped the sentiment in pacific point and punched it our with the large oval punched and sponged the edges with pacific point as well.

I'll see you next week! Happy Thanksgiving!

Hot Pepper Jelly

I love hot pepper jelly! I found a great recipe for it and made a whole bunch, so I put some in baby food jars and dressed them up with some Holiday Treasures DSP and a little snowflake stamp from Snow Swirled on top with the label and the present stamp from Deer Friends. It makes a great holiday gift, so save those baby food jars!
Edited to add:
I've had some requests for the recipe so here it is:
Holiday Pepper Jelly

8 cups sugar, divided
2 jalapeño peppers, seeded
1 green bell pepper, seeded
1 red bell pepper, seeded
2 cups apple-cider vinegar
1 box (6oz) liquid pectin (2 pouches)

In a food processor, combine 1 cup of the sugar and the jalapeño peppers. Process until the jalapeno peppers are completely ground. Sugar will look green. Transfer to a large saucepan.

Cut green and red bell peppers into chunks. Chops pepper chunks into small piece in food processor. Add peppers, vinegar, and remaining sugar to saucepan and bring to a boil.

Add both pouches of pectin, and boil 1 minute. (Don’t leave or it will boil over!)

Skim foam from surface. Let cool for 1 hour. Stir, and then transfer to clean jars and cover. Refrigerate up to 6 months. Makes 9 cups.

Enjoy!

Gobble, Gobble

Are you getting ready for Thanksgiving? This year, we're going out of town to visit my parents. We're looking forward to spending time with them. Meanwhile, I saw this cute turkey card and thought it would be fun to make. I made the turkey using punches! Isn't that fun?

I used the 1 3/8 circle punch for the body - chocolate chip
3/4 circle for the head - more mustard
two 1/4 circle for the buttons - real red
double circle for the eyes - basic black
3/4 square trimmed down for the hat - basic black
Boho Blossoms flowers for the feet and a petal for his beak - pumpkin pie
Scallop Punch for his feathers - real red, old olive, and chocolate chip

To fold the scallops:

1. Count five scallops and fold that portion of the circle down
2. Turn the circle over, and fold in half to form a crease in the middle for reference, then unfold.
3. fold the flat edge down from each side so the folded edges line up with the middle crease (similar to making a paper airplane fold).

Fun Brayering Technique

We had a fantastic time at our stamp meeting last night. We learned some of the fantastic brayering techniques of Michelle Zindorf. This is the card that Mary showed us how to create. I just love everything about this card!

We started off with a piece of whisper white (the best cardstock to use for this technique because it is so smooth) and brayered some bashful blue on opposite corners followed by some lavender lace, then we sponged some elegant eggplant all around the edges. Then we stamped the skaters in chocolate chip and without reinking the stamp, stamped two more times diagonally. Then we stamped the snowflake in whisper white in the corner (I love this little touch!)

Mary have already embossed the snowflake on some bashful blue and sponged some elegant eggplant around the edges for us. To finish, I mounted it on some elegant eggplant.

I will definitely be using my brayer more!

Fall Scene

Ok, now that I've done a winter card, I'm rewinding and doing a fall card. Can't skip fall. Luckily there are some trees that turn colors here which is lovely to see. I used Lovely as a Tree again to create this card. I used sage shadow, chocolate chip, really rust and more mustard markers and thumped the colors all over the stamp. I used some of the Autumn Vine DSP and just pulled all the colors from the DSP for my card!

11.07.2008

Create a Beautiful Winter Scene

Some people think I'm crazy, but I have to admit that I miss the snow! Don't get me wrong, I love the beautiful California weather. But it still feels strange to celebrate Christmas without snow! So when I saw the Winter Post stamp set, I knew I had to have it! I love the snowflake stamp and the ice skaters.

The ice skaters are perfect to create a Winter Scene using Lovely As a Tree. First I stamped the skaters on a piece of kraft cardstock cut out with the Big Shot top note die. Then I stamped the skaters on a piece of paper and cut them out so that I could use it as a mask. I placed it over the skaters and stamped the trees for the background. Then I used my blender pens to color in the skater's sweaters.

I used a sketch challenge of scs for the layout of the card. I added some of the new Holiday Treasures DSP (love it) in layers and some wide double stitched chocolate chip grosgrain ribbon. Are you ready for ice skating and hot chocolate?

Chocolate Bar Pull Treat

Need a quick and cute idea for Halloween? Try this chocolate treat pull! It's super easy to make and fun to pull the chocolate bar out and eat it! The directions are here on SplitCoast. I used Ghostly Greetings DSP, the Batty for you stamp set and coordinating tangerine tango and kiwi kiss striped grosgrain ribbon. Have a Happy Halloween!

10.27.2008

Top Note Treat Box

Isn't this Halloween top note treat box cute? I saw the idea for this box on Angie's blog. It reminds me of a coffin. To decorate the box I stamped the hat from Eat, Drink and Be Scary and colored some chunky white glitter with some tangerine tango ink by pouring some glitter on a plate and sitrring the ink in with a toothpick. Then I used crystal effects to stick the glitter on. Next I mounted the hat on some Ghostly Greetings DSP and tied some kiwi kiss striped grograin around the box.

I lined the coffin with some hershey kisses. And now it is ready to give away! Halloween is only 4 days away! Stay tuned for my next post with one more quick and cute Halloween treat idea!

10.20.2008

Top Note Treat

I'm having soo much fun with the top note die. Here is one of the Halloween projects I created using my top note die. I used the Ghostly Greetings DSP for the front and back and Eat Drink, and Be Scary to stamp the tag and front of the treat holder. I punched some slots with the slot punch one and a half times for the kiwi kiss striped grosgrain ribbon on the top and wrapped some ribbon around the middle to keep the treats inside.

Stay tuned for my next Halloween project using the top note die, you're going to love it!

Party Hearty Spiral Pop Up Card

Here is a peak inside the card. I stamped the little party hats, cut them out and placed them on the spiral. It'll be a fun surprise for the recipient!

Quick Thank you Card

I've been helping out with our Home & School Club's Membership Drive and needed to make a quick thank you card for one of the teachers that had 100% participation in his class. I hope this card is masculine enough because it is for one of the male teachers at the school.

I used More Mustard with the new Autumn Vine DSP from the Holiday Mini Catalog. I layered the piece of Autumn Vine DSP with some chocolate chip and tied some more mustard grosgrain around it. Then I stamped the medallion with more mustard craft ink and embossed it with clear embossing powder and watercolored the image with more mustard ink. I added the little flower from the boho blossoms punch and a rhinestone brad with a glue dot.

Thanks for stopping by!

Bloomin' Basket

I love baskets almost as much as I love boxes. And when I saw this basket, I dropped everything to go make it! I found it here on Lauren's blog. I started with pink pirouette cs and riding hood red ink. I thought the Kind Thoughts stamp set would be perfect for my basket! I stamped the butterfly on pink pirouette and then cut it out and popped it up on a dimensional. I added the tag with some riding hood red taffeta and punched out the little flower with the boho blossoms punch. I'm off to take a shower and pick my brother up from the airport! Have a great day!

9.22.2008

Please register by this Friday, Sept 26th by dropping off or mailing a check or through paypal.

Urban Garden Inspiration

I just got the Urban Garden DSP and I love it. How did I ever live without it? I love the color combination of baja breeze, kiwi kiss, and not quite navy. I again used Inspired by Nature and stamped the grass in kiwi kiss and the flower in not quite navy. Then I stamped the sentiment and punched it out with the large oval punch and sponged around the edges and mounted it with dimensionals. I'm still getting over a cold, so I'm off to take a quick nap before I have to take my son to soccer practice. Have a great weekend!

9.17.2008

Inspired by Nature

This is one of those sets that didn't catch my eye at first, but then as I saw all the beautiful cards and samples everyone made with it and had to have it. I love the silhouettes of the grass and the flower and all the neat images you can stamp with them.

One of the cards I saw used the Poppin' Pastels technique. I hadn't used that technique in a while so I thought I would try it again. Having grown up in Maryland, I've always loved its state flower, the Black Eyed Susan, so I pulled out my long neglected Stampin' Pastels and sponge daubers and started with chocolate chip in the centers, with some so saffron petals and always artichoke stems and leaves.

I used the new Large Oval Punch (love it!) to punch out the sentiment and then I used two more punched out chocolate chip large ovals to mat it. Lastly, I added some of the new Alpine Ribbon from the Holiday Mini Catalog (coming Oct 1st!)

My Stamp Closet has Retired Sets for Sale

I'm continually organizing my stamp closet to make more room for all of my stuff! And now that I'm collecting Sizzix Big Shot dies I needed to reorganize to find more room.

So, I went to IKEA and bought some more bookcases and boxes to put everything in. My closet is pretty full now! I used to have the table I used to stamp on (that you can see a part of there on the right) in the closet. It was a little tight in there. Now I use the table for my Big Shot station. And I've had to set up another table there on the left side to hold more stuff too.

I'll take some pictures of my new stamping area (I finally had to come out of the closet) with my new stamping desk and post them next week. (Once I tidy it up a bit!)

While doing all this organizing, I found some Retired sets to sell! All sets are in good, like new condition. Shipping is $4.60 and I will combine shipping for multiple items.

Online Ordering is here!

Don't want to wait for my next party or class? Now you don't have to! Online ordering is here! All you have to do is go to my Demonstrator Business Web Site, click on SHOP NOW in the upper right hand corner and start shopping! Stay tuned for some great upcoming promotions that I will be offering this fall!

Inspiration from the Catalog

An easy way to find inspiration is to simply look in the catalog! I found a card on page 127 of the Fall/Winter Catalog that I liked. I modified it a bit and in a couple minutes I had a finished card! Instead of using DSP I used the bella's border wheel on some kiwi kiss.

I've been wanting to use my Curly Label Punch and coordinating Cute & Curly stamp set, so I stamped the image in more mustard and then again in kiwi kiss and cut out the oval and stamped the "Thank you" from A Rose is a Rose stamp set and popped it up on a dimensional.

I wanted a scalloped layer, so I punched a piece of chocolate chip with the scallop square punch and then cut it in half. I adhered it to the back on the top and bottom. I added some chocolate chip taffeta ribbon as well.

I've got a my son's piano lesson, cub scouts, his friend over for dinner and a Young Women's activity for me, so I better get crackin'! Have a great day!

Bella Rose Fantasy Box Class

It's been a little while since I made one of these fantasy boxes, but it was just as fun as I remembered! What inspires you? Sketch Challenge 192

I am really enjoying these sketch challenges. They inspire me to try new layouts and help me with creating new cards. When I just start from scratch I have a hard time deciding on the layout, so this has been a wonderful way to get my creative juices flowing!

For this sketch I used the Always stamp set. It's so pretty. I stamped the bird in pacific point and cut it out and mounted it with dimensionals. I stamped the heart in baja breeze and then rocked and rolled it in pacific point and trimmed it out and mounted it on dimensionals as well. I originally had a strip of kiwi kiss but it didn't looks right so I used some always artichoke. I think it compliments the blues a bit better. I added some of the new kiwi kiss/very vanilla satin ribbon around the side as well.

So what inspires you to get your creative juices flowing?

Fabulous Five Petal Flower Punch

I saw this fabulous card on my friend Lynn's blog and knew I wanted to try making similar one. I punched 7 pink pirouette flowers with the 5 petal flower punch. Then, I sponged them with riding hood red, darker in the middle and lighter towards the ends.
I punched one flower from the boho blossoms punch for the center and then added a half pearl from the pretties kit. Then I punched some large ovals from the kiwi kiss cardstock and trimmed the ends to make a point for the petals. I added my favorite paper, bella rose on some riding hood red and tied some riding hood red taffeta around them.
Have a great day!

New Catalog Open House

I had my New Catalog Open House last night. We made two cute cards and a little chocolate treat holder. Thanks to everyone who came!

The first card we made, I saw here on SplitCoast Stampers by Julie. I loved how simple and bold the card is and everyone loved the new Pacific Point InColor!

I used the new Top Note Sizzix die-cut and then stamped colored the flowers old olive and the branches in chocolate chip and then stamped it sideways on the paper. Then I punched out three small flowers of pacific point cs with the trio flower punch and added brads to the middle and used glue dots to adhere them randomly to the flower branch. I used the sentiment from the Inspired by Nature set in the top right corner.

Next, we made a card with the new set, Flight of the Butterfly. I love butterflies! We used a lot of punches for this one: the scallop punch, the 1 3/8", 1 1/4", and 1" circle punches, and the scallop edge punch. We started with pink pirouette and stamped the flower in pink pirouette across the top. Although it looks black in this picture, we used chocolate chip for the layers.

The last project we did was a little chocolate treat holder. We started with a piece of 2 1/4" x 7 1/2" piece of riding hood red cardstock and scored lengthwise at 3", 3 3/4", and 6 3/4".

Then we stamped the for you stamp from Say it with Scallops, the new Ronald McDonald House set and punched it out with the new scallop square punch. We adhered it to a piece of kiwi kiss and then to a 2" square of bella rose dsp.

Next, we punched two holes in the top flap and threaded some of the new kiwi kiss/very vanilla satin ribbon through. It's so soft! We punched the small flower with the Boho Blossoms punch out of some pink pirouette. But the best part of all is the Ghiradelli chocolate squares we tucked into the pouch!

At the party, I announced that I have three classes planned, so stay tuned for more details! Have a great three day weekend!

In Love

I'm in love. With my new Sizzix Big Shot! I love all the different things I can cut out especially all the scallop circles! I've been waiting for Stampin' Up! to offer a die-cut machine, so the Big Shot is a dream come true. As soon as I saw this week's sketch challenge, I knew that I could use one of the scallop circles for it!

And as you already know, I'm in love with the Bella Rose paper so I had to get the coordinating A Rose is a Rose stamp set. So I used it to stamp the rose and the sentiment. I love the new satin riding hood red ribbon so I added that too!

Don't forget, this Thursday night is my New Catalog Open House at 7pm at my house! Please rsvp if you haven't already to let me know that you are coming!
